Strange Country

~Author's Note: This is a piece we worked in class. Im only posting what I have done, and Ill be updating it so enjoy! Please tell me what you think of it.

You are driving across a bridge, toward a country you have never visited before. On the other side of the bridge, you can only barely make out what seems to be a series of homes that look to be abandoned, for there is no one in sight. There is a train station with a steaming locomotive parked on the track.

I looked over to the homes, which appeared to have no life in them at all. There were homes, and then there was brush and the wild. As I wondered where everyone went, an ant crawled up my ankle and bit me. I looked down on the tiny red dot and swatted it off. Then I noticed millions of the red ants crawling from the houses and the train station. As they all ran towards me, I braked on my car, turned around and drove at lightning speed back to the bridge.

I raced over with the engine screaming with all its might. The little ants still poured after me though. I grabbed a knife from the backseat and cut at the cables, breaking them in half. The bridge fell down into the deep, Jardun River, taking a million of the ants with it.

I walked back to my car, and suddenly felt nauseous. I turned the car on and slowly drove back to the nearest large town, Kilhua. On the way, I stopped at a gas station and bought some crackers to eat on the way, if they could keep me from fainting.

I reached the town and rushed myself to the nearest hospital. When the first nurses saw me, they demanded to know why I was blue and purple in the face, as well as the rest of me being orange and pink. A nurse with cherry red hair, stepped up to me and caught me as I fainted.

I woke up in a bright room, covered with what looked like swirlies. The same red head nurse sat in a corner, completing a word search. I sat up and rubbed my eyes groggily until I saw the mechanical leg attached to where I used to have a skin and flesh one. The nurse noticed I was up and walked over to help me.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"My name is Ellianna and there will be a doctor in here soon named Mr. Fiddlybop-ToniaGocius. He will check your leg."

"Ya, that reminds me, what happened to it?"

"You had a bite of some kind and the poisoning spread fast. That’s why the doctor is coming back in. To hear your version of the events if you remember anything. Ah, here he comes now. I'll be out in the hallway dear." Then the kind nurse walked into the hallway, letting the doctor slip in as she left. The doctor shut the door and sat in the armchair the nurse sat it.

"How are you today? My name is Mr. Fiddlybop-ToniaGocius and I am the one who did your surgery, a creative and very dangerous one too. No one has ever attempted this before, yet I completed this and without consequences. Yay me! Well anyways, we have to figure out this whole situation. How was your leg injured? Do you remember anything at all?"

"Yes I do, well until I came here."

"Please tell me." Then, for the next hour, I told Dr. Fiddlybop- ToniaGocius about my adventure in the strange country about 2 miles away.

  1. I loved doing that activity it's just so fun how these random things are just there and yours was serious with these little random funny things in there that make the piece humorous and serious which is good for me because all serious is kind of hard to read. Good job.

  2. I really liked this because it was scary, but somehow funny. Also, the end was unexpected but well-written. Keep up the great writing! By the way you should add on soon to this story!

  3. This writing piece was super cool. I liked the action with how the main character got rid of the ants by cutting the bridge. It was also kind of scary in a funny way when the main character got to the hospital. Again, cool piece. I can't wait for the update!

  4. I thought this piece was really creative. I wish I was there that day so I could've done one like that! Your piece was funny, and I wouldn't have suspected anything that had happened in the story.
