~Author's Note: The was a homework assignment in LA about writing about the point of view taken inside our book, The Curious Case of the Dog at Night-time.
In the crazy bok of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time", the story is narrated by 15 year old Christopher. I believe the story was best written by Christopher as he is autistic which adds an interesting twist to the story, and that he adds observations that other people wouldnt. You can see the emotions of Christopher in his writing; the sadness of seeing Wellington dead, the anger aimed at his father, and joy of learning that his mother was alive and well.
In the view of the father, the book would be completely different in the voice and observations. The events might be the same, but it would be a more boring view. It would also be a darker story as the father lies a lot to Christopher and keeps a lot of secrets, some that are good, and many that are bad.
The fighting force in this book, the police, would be terrible narrating. The werent in enough of the scenes to know what was going on and they would all be acting with a "valor". There might not be much emotion, except for when they learn about the dog and Christopher's predictament.
All in all, Christopher was the best possible choice as he made an interesting turn on things.

Character Analysis- Christopher's Father
Christopher's dad is a character who has good intentions, but makes bad decisions because of those intentions. The first bad decision that is made apparent was the fact that he had good intentions about keeping Christopher's mom leave a secret, but made the bad decision in lying to Christopher that his mother was dead. This resulted in unnecessary consequences as Christopher grew upset when he learned the truth. I believe that Christopher's dad made this decision because he wanted to protect Christopher from the fact that his mother left him. Even though Christopher eventually found out, the father partly succeeded in protecting Christopher. The one thing that was clear about Chris's dad was that he loved Christopher. He learned about Christopher's autism and he made a new kind of "hug" when Christopher showed he did not want to be touched. Christopher's dad has many good intentions, he just makes bad decisions.

Life of Pi- Innocence
~Author's Note: In LA we read the book, Life of Pi, by Yann Martel. We had to write an essay and finally, I settled on an innocence theme. In this I exlained about Pi losing his innocence over the course of the book, which had three parts. Please give some feedback. - English @ ACMS
Innocence
Innocence; a state, quality, or fact of not committing a crime. Innocence; a word used on a range of people and animals, from a baby infant to an unicorn. A term that can also be applied to Piscine Moliter Patel, the main character in the book "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel. Pi has 3 different religions, Christianity, Muslim, and Islam. When he turns 16, he sets out on a journey where he loses all of his innocence and temporarily loses faith in his religion.
Many events lead up to this tragic loss of Pi's. The first event was placed on the lifeboat with Pi and Richard Parker. In part one, Pi went from huddling in a corner and leaving the animals alone to killing the hyena and eating it hungrily. In part two, it is the cook that Pi kills, as the cook is symbolic of the hyena. Since the hyena is the cook, Pi ends up eating the cook. Pi becomes a cannibal, which further destroys his innocence.
Another example of Pi losing his innocence is where went from crying over killing the flying fish for food to the relishing in the killing of the dorado. His religions and vegetarianism were set aside in this, as his survival instincts took over. They were his first "kills" besides the cook, and while he may regret the kills, he cannot take them back.
The third event where Pi lost his innocence was when he killed his first turtle. He had made other kills before, mainly fish, but the killing of the turtle symbolized that Pi was symbolically killing one of his religions and god. In the Hindu beliefs, turtles are extremely sacred animals as their shell represents heaven and their underside represents earth. Therefore, a turtle is an animal whose "magic" unites heaven and earth. Another reason turtles are important to Hindus is that they believe turtles are the second incarnation of their god, Vishnu. It was evident in Part II that he lost his faith in the way that he did not mention religion nearly as much as in Parts I and III
There are a few other parts where Pi's innocence is torn, but the climactic moment that finalized it was the death of the blind man. When the blind man dies, Pi describes it as "killing a part of himself that will never come back to life." That part of him was his innocence. When he ate the flesh of himself, he brought himself down to cannibalism, an act that will surely destroy his innocence and greatly harm his beliefs. Not only is he eating meat, but meat of his own kind.
In summary, Pi begins his journey in Part I with his innocence and his many religious beliefs. He loses part of his religious beliefs In Part III, he walks away scarred, wiser, and much more knowledgeable about religion than he ever had been before. He does end up getting his religion back. However, he lost something on his long journey he will never get back. His innocence.

Life Of Pi- Quote
Author's Note: We had a homework assignment of... "Explain your interpretation of Martel's statements that 'the idea of a religious boy in a lifeboat with a wild animal struck me as a perfect metaphor for the human condition. Humans aspire to really high things, right, like religion, justice, democracy. At the same time, we're rooted in our human, animal condition. And so, all of those brought together in a lifeboat struck me as being... as a perfect metaphor.'"
What he means is that humans have animal-like personalities. We learn to figure out how to cooperate with others in religion, work or school. It is like an ecosystem, certain people on top, many people on bottom. We all have our differences but we also have the same attributes. Also, many animals have different attributes such as being carnivorous, lazy or a predator. Same in the human world. We might be very lazy, or be carnivorous, but we all are the one and the same, animals and humans.
Fun Fact: Did you know humans are classified as mammals? Another reason to prove we are *animals*.

Memories
~Author's Note: This is about remembering someone special. Is actually about my Great Grandma and how I would always remember her. Enjoy! :)
My life is in your hands, what do you see?
A challenge, a decision, responsibility?
For every breath I take, depends on these moments.
My happiness, my comfort, my existence.
You do not judge me, you make me grin.
Great memories, great thoughts, all reside within.
The things we see every day, the things we feel,
The joy and confidence, it seems unreal.
When hours last forever, and minutes stand still.
I think about each dream, and think about each thrill.
Living each second, embracing time
More we spend together, more you are mine.
It is all in these moments, that will last forever.
No matter what; I will still remember.
My life is in your hands, what do you see?
A challenge, a decision, responsibility?
For every breath I take, depends on these moments.
My happiness, my comfort, my existence.

Best Friend
When I cry you help me out
When I'm happy you hear me shout
When I glare you know I'm really mad
Because you are my best friend
You can tell when I'm sad.
You're there in thick and thin
You know you can always make me grin
You help me out when I get mad
You are the bestest friend I've ever had
So hear me out when I say
You’re the light in my day
You are the moon in my night
You make everything right
And if you ever leave…
I'll be with you wherever you go.
When I'm happy you hear me shout
When I glare you know I'm really mad
Because you are my best friend
You can tell when I'm sad.

The Hundredth Dove
~Author's Note: This piece was a district writing assessment and I have now posted it to my blog, along with the rest of my class. Hope you enjoy it and please give some feedback. Thanks!
In this story, the forest fowler catches and serves for the king. He had even sewn his motto "servo" into the flesh right above his heart. Have you ever felt this way before, where you serve someone no matter who tries to persuade you to not do it? When you make a choice and make it happen, there’s no going back and it will affect your future.
The future queen was an elegant, graceful woman; who was known throughout the land. Her name was Lady Columbia, which meant dove. She was to be married to the King and he had commanded the fowler to bring 100 doves to be eaten at the wedding feast. And yet, the queen said no. Later, he was catching the doves for the feast, all except one who was small, white and graceful. He could never catch the dove; but when he finally did, the dove spoke out in a woman's voice proclaiming that he had to release the dove and would find fame and fortune or even the queen as his one true love. Since he could not bear the dove's words, he twisted the bird's neck and brought it back to the castle with the other 99 doves. Yet there was never a wedding.
When I read this, it made me sad, for I couldn't bear to see the cruelty. If the king was for the queen, he would heed to her wishes as well, except if it was one of those times when women didn’t have any power. The queen turned out to be the dove, one who was graceful, and full of innocence. The dove is a symbol of love and beauty, yet it is easily brought down. The fowler had felt regret for killing that innocent creature, the one who was the queen and so he never hunted again; but lived on berries for the rest of his life. If I was the fowler, I would have done the same except for killing the bird and tearing his “motto” off his chest.
The story showed to me that everything has its rights and wrongs whether it’s hunting or even issuing orders for your loved one. The fowler made his choice, even if it was a wrong one. We cannot change what we did and will do. Our choices change our future. Because the fowler decided to hunt birds for the king, he felt regret and never hunted again. If he saved the bird, he would have had much fame and fortune and the Lady Columbia.

Robber Mayhem
~Author's Note: This was a story I had written last year in Mr. Seyfert's class. It was practice for descriptive words and I really liked the start of the story. So this year, I wrote the last part from the beach houses and updated it so it's the best writing that I could do. Please reply what you think! Thanks! I am also working on a sequel for this so keep tuned XD
Caspian, an ordinary boy in the ordinary town of Tyrn, Indiowa, was an everyday average kid. Indiowa was located in the country of Calormene which was on the planet Pongee. Caspian was a teenager attending school and going out with a rather adorable girl. Little did he know that he would lose it all when he decided to take a walk through the city.
He was taking his everyday walk. When he turned around the corner of a street, he dropped his jaw at the shocking sight that was laid out before him. He saw a tall, glowing guy in silver clothes calmly walking out of the richest bank in town with two rather large, stuffed burlap bags. Fresh dollar bills and brilliant gold coins were tumbling out of the bags, onto the cobblestone street. The robber searched around and when he didn't find anyone, he yelled out to the others, "Come on out boys!" Caspian's jaw dropped farther when a horde of the glowing robbers came out; each holding their own sack of money.
What was surprising though, was that as Caspian looked at them, he noticed that they were gliding out of the door as if nothing was going on. Actually, there was nothing going on. The alarms were off, Caspian didn't see or hear anyone yelling, and he was the unlucky chimp surrounded by a pride of lions. Wait, hang on a second; gliding? Then Caspian noticed the dazzling light that seemed to be coming from the strange robbers. When they walked out the door, they grew taller and taller. In the end, they were all about nine feet tall.
Then, because Caspian was so wrapped up in his thoughts and forgot to hide, someone saw him. This guy was taller than the rest; so while he was a great lookout, he couldn't move very fast. This robber was around ten feet tall and was wearing jade colored armor. Once he spotted Caspian, the jade lookout yelled to his friends, "Look, a human! Grab him!" By the time the giant finished his sentence, Caspian was off and running. He took a quick glance backward and wished he hadn't.
For one thing, he was blinded by their bright light and the second was that five of the robbers gave their bulging sacks to the others and were soon gliding rapidly towards him. He turned around dazedly and started running away faster than before. Caspian replayed the events in his mind over and over as he was running. He replayed them so much, it felt he had been running for hours even though it had only been ten minutes.
Soon, he came to a street of empty, open-door, beach houses. They were all painted as though there were many artists, each with their own unique "flavoring". He couldn't run for much longer and the robbers were gaining ground, so he chose a house in the middle of the street. It looked like a giant had mixed corn cobs, grass, mud, and blood all together and dumped it onto the house. Caspian dug deep within his body for any amount of energy he could muster, burst into a full sprint to the house, and pelted through the door just as the chasers rounded the corner and had full view of the street.
The bandits raced down the street and stopped suddenly outside the giant's house. Caspian hid just behind the door so that he could hear them talking, but so they wouldn't see him. Next, after he got himself situated, he strained to hear them talking. The biggest robber was talking to one of his buddies that wore blood-red clothing.
"Ares, how could you let that child get away? You're one of the fastest here!"
"Yes, I might be the fastest but so are you, Poseidon. Anyways, since you are one of the big three, it is my duty to stay behind you in a chase."
"Yes, it is," nodded Poseidon, "but that boy was our main priority for it was he who saw us robbing the richest bank in this town. What I don't get, is why he was awake when Morpheus put all the humans to sleep?"
"Why don't we ask Morpheus then? If he can't give us a good reason, let’s drain his powers from him. We don't need his petty magic."
"Not now Ares. For now, we need to find the kid who can survive Morpheus's spells."
"And just how do you plan to do that, might I ask?"
"Athena, please give us your thoughts."
Athena then said, "There are five of us. There will be better chances if we send for more. Hermes, will you please send a message to Ra that we need more gods?"
Caspian's eyes grew wide when Athena mentioned this, for he finally figured out the puzzle. These strange people were gods, for that explained the dazzling light; and speed of which they possessed. Also, that was why he didn’t see anyone; Morpheus delivered all the humans into a deep sleep.
"Of course Athena," said Hermes.
Athena then said, "When Hermes leaves, two gods will go to both ends of the street blocking them off. Nemesis and I will do that. Poseidon and Ares will then search the houses, the first on the end of the street and work your way in so the child cant escape. Ok?"
"Lets go," said Hermes.
"Break!" Nemesis shouted.
After all that being said and done, they left to do their separate jobs. Caspian then walked silently upstairs for anything that would make a rope. When he got upstairs, he walked into the first room in the hallway to the left, towards the back of the house. In that room, he discovered two wooden deck chairs, a metal chest, and an oak wardrobe, He strode over to the wardrobe and pulled the wooden panels open expecting human clothes. Instead, he saw dazzling clothes radiating the same light that the gods did. He freaked and raced from the room and then downstairs. He was committed to running out the door until he remembered the gods that were coming up outside, the real ones. He slowly stepped up the stairs and into the room, and looked at the clothes. He then felt a sudden pull towards the weird clothes and through his trance, heard Ares and Poseidon tromping around downstairs. Caspian grabbed the clothes and slid them on, then he felt pure joy and bliss and comfort for a few seconds… then fainted.
When he came to, there were 4 humans leaning over him. "Wait a second," thought Caspian, "they arent human; they still have light around them but it is much duller than before." A head peered into view with stormy eyes and brown and grey hair and with a jolt, was recognized as Poseidon. The other 3 were the other 3 gods, Ares, Nemesis and Athena.
"Are you a backup?" asked Poseidon.
As Caspian looked down upon himself, he noticed he was also covered in the same brightness as the gods. He felt a searing heat in his hands and opened his hands to find a lightning bolt with explosives on the very end. "I'm, I'm not sure," replied Caspian finally. Just then, a feathery, angelic woman came, snapped Caspian up and brought him to a dark alley.
"Who are you?" asked Caspian.
"I am Dandela, a bird angel servant of the king of gods. My master wanted me to tell you answers to many mysteries. Go on, ask any question you desire."
"Why didn't the gods recognize me when I woke up?"
"It was because you were one of their brethren, the lightning god."
"But, Im not a god?" Yet deep down in, Caspian knew he was.
"When you put on the clothes you are wearing now, you fainted so that you could gather your new magic abilities. Next question, please."
"If I am really a god, is my name the same, or has it changed?"
"It has changed."
"Then what is my name?"
"Your new name is destined to be Zeus, the new king of the gods, the all powerful lightning god."
"Is that why I had a real lightning bolt?"
"Yes, it will appear whenever you need it from now on. Just say the words 'O lightning, come serve me faithfully' and it will come. Have a good life while you can Zeus and I will see you soon. But for now, I must leave."
"Wait don’t go! I still have a lot of questions to ask you!"
"And they will be answered in time Zeus. Let the future reveal itself when it wants to. Goodbye, future king." And with a snap, she left in a puff of feathers, leaving the newly named Zeus in the alley.

Strange Country
~Author's Note: This is a piece we worked in class. Im only posting what I have done, and Ill be updating it so enjoy! Please tell me what you think of it.
You are driving across a bridge, toward a country you have never visited before. On the other side of the bridge, you can only barely make out what seems to be a series of homes that look to be abandoned, for there is no one in sight. There is a train station with a steaming locomotive parked on the track.
I looked over to the homes, which appeared to have no life in them at all. There were homes, and then there was brush and the wild. As I wondered where everyone went, an ant crawled up my ankle and bit me. I looked down on the tiny red dot and swatted it off. Then I noticed millions of the red ants crawling from the houses and the train station. As they all ran towards me, I braked on my car, turned around and drove at lightning speed back to the bridge.
I raced over with the engine screaming with all its might. The little ants still poured after me though. I grabbed a knife from the backseat and cut at the cables, breaking them in half. The bridge fell down into the deep, Jardun River, taking a million of the ants with it.
I walked back to my car, and suddenly felt nauseous. I turned the car on and slowly drove back to the nearest large town, Kilhua. On the way, I stopped at a gas station and bought some crackers to eat on the way, if they could keep me from fainting.
I reached the town and rushed myself to the nearest hospital. When the first nurses saw me, they demanded to know why I was blue and purple in the face, as well as the rest of me being orange and pink. A nurse with cherry red hair, stepped up to me and caught me as I fainted.
I woke up in a bright room, covered with what looked like swirlies. The same red head nurse sat in a corner, completing a word search. I sat up and rubbed my eyes groggily until I saw the mechanical leg attached to where I used to have a skin and flesh one. The nurse noticed I was up and walked over to help me.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name is Ellianna and there will be a doctor in here soon named Mr. Fiddlybop-ToniaGocius. He will check your leg."
"Ya, that reminds me, what happened to it?"
"You had a bite of some kind and the poisoning spread fast. That’s why the doctor is coming back in. To hear your version of the events if you remember anything. Ah, here he comes now. I'll be out in the hallway dear." Then the kind nurse walked into the hallway, letting the doctor slip in as she left. The doctor shut the door and sat in the armchair the nurse sat it.
"How are you today? My name is Mr. Fiddlybop-ToniaGocius and I am the one who did your surgery, a creative and very dangerous one too. No one has ever attempted this before, yet I completed this and without consequences. Yay me! Well anyways, we have to figure out this whole situation. How was your leg injured? Do you remember anything at all?"
"Yes I do, well until I came here."
"Please tell me." Then, for the next hour, I told Dr. Fiddlybop- ToniaGocius about my adventure in the strange country about 2 miles away.

Luke Baldwin's Vow Response
For most people, sharing life with someone is a key ingredient in life, sort of like water, food and shelter. Sometimes, that bond could be made with an animal instead, such as in the case of Luke Baldwin. When his parents leave him, he finds a friend in the old dog, Dan. Dan is Luke's uncle Henry's dog; one who is half blind.
For me, the bond between Luke and Dan were the main point of the story, not Uncle Henry or deaths of parents. Luke was an ordinary person, as Dan was an ordinary dog. Yet, they created a special bond that could never be replaced. When Luke was down or feeling lonely, he would go to his faithful friend and make adventures or just hang.
In this story, Uncle Henry appears to be a wise man, calculating what he needs and what he wants. Luke wants to be just like him, until the dreadful time of which Uncle Henry tries to get rid of Dan. Dan almost drowns by the hand of the foreman and a stone, which was tied to his neck. The devotion between Dan and Luke though saved him, because Luke came to rescue him. After Luke rescued Dan, he went to Mr. Kemps, the man who knew both Dan and Luke and enjoyed having them. Luke then told Mr. Kemps the whole story, and what ole Kemps said was to make a deal with his uncle. A deal to keep Dan. The same day, Luke shows his aunt and uncle Dan. As they gasped in wonder, he told them the deal and Uncle Henry accepted.
That day, Luke realized that he didn't want to know all the business stuff, but to be wise like Mr. Kemp, and learn to handle people like his uncle; who cared about family, but didn’t realize the joy things could bring to people. People who could always say no, but didn’t want to say yes.
In real life, this can be seen all over the world. There have been many cases where an animal's owner gets hurt and the animal wont leave them; they would have to climb into the ambulance too and lays with their human, their friend. This also happens the other way around, human weeping for dog or animal. When this happens, people call it loyalty and sweet. What it really means is that the animal is devoted to the human; and if the human was awake, he would be there every step out of devotion to his dog. It could also be called love, friendship, and adoration. But it all means the same thing, you would do anything to protect that loved one.
I can also relate it to my life. When I was little, we had a chocolate lab, who I tried to imagine dying. But whenever I did, I would start crying because I didn't know what I would do without her. Now, I have my dog Lucy, who I feel the same way for. When I feel lonely or sad, I love to just go in my room with her, and listen to music or something and block everything that is going on, out.
Luke is like me in a way, as I him. We both need that friendship in life, and we both have it with our dogs. Sometimes, living a life seems like it's not worth it; until you see that beautiful dog face waiting for you at home. That's why this story is important to me; Luke discovers a new family and dream. He discovers more what the world is like, and who is in it.

Spring
~Author's Note: This is a piece I created when I was asked about what my favorite season was and why. Hope you enjoy and some feedback would be welcome. :)
Spring.
Lush and Green.
A new start.
That can be sweet or tart.
Red Roses.
Blue Violets.
And everything in between,
Spring is lush and green.
Stalks of grass
And no class!
Sweet as can be,
Spring is lush and green.
Storms rage!
Blowing the pages,
Right off my screen!
So as tart as can be,
Spring is lush and green.

Island of Paradise
~Author's Note: This was my version of paradise. It doesn't have to be yours, because it's mine. I had started to write a story with this piece, but it didn't sound right. So then I deleted the story and posted the paradise. Please tell me what you think of this piece!
I walk along the golden, soft beach, the gentle winds tussling my hair. The smell of fish and tangerines fill my nose as I inhale deeply. I can hear birds calling out to each other and the waves crashing against the shore. I could see dolphins playing in the turquoise ocean a mile away. The bright, blue sky is filled with sun, and with flocks of birds circling the island. It is an island of paradise.

Peace like a River Prompt
The main character for this book is Jeremiah Land, Reuben's father. In some ways, he is like an angel, creating miracles, fighting "evil", and being very loyal and faithful to the Lord Almighty.
His actions caught my attention because they are what made him the main character. Some people might think Reuben is the main character but he is just a narrator and the main characters son. Jeremiah is in almost every scene, whether he's being mentioned or actually in it.
He performed several miracles which included walking on air, helping Reuben live, and lastly, he glowed like an angel when he went to go save Dolly from the two bullies. The last one is what made me come to a solution about the theme.
I believe the theme is about doing good and praising God. A lot of people try to do good, but then it blows up in their face when they go bad themselves. Most people believe in God and the church and doing good, even when it is hard to follow up on that. Jeremiah does all those things, and more. He prays and listens to God, he also does good and protect the innocent. This is why the theme to me was praising God and doing good.

Tom Sawyer Essay
~Authors Note: We had to write an essay for Tom Sawyer about the theme and mode.
Have you ever had a loyal friend who'd stand by you while you stood by him? A friend that you'd support, no matter what? That's what the friendship of Tom, Huck, and Joe is like. They would stick by each other even when they were in great danger. They are like brothers, who fight, but then they would forgive each other and continue their adventures.
Their friendship seems huge because Huck and Joe let Tom drag them everywhere, whether it's a murder they're seeing, or into Tom's own personal problems. But then again isn't that what friends are for? To follow you and help at times of need?
Mark Twain seems to know how to value friendship, and let that "feeling" write the story of Tom Sawyer for him. He added some marvelous characters, Huck Finn and Joe, to be friends with Tom Sawyer on all the adventures. If Tom didn't have friends or at least allies, the story would be over after a few very short chapters. Tom Sawyer's overall mode is romance. He can't do anything wrong and ends up getting out of trouble every time. Everybody needs a friend, including romance main characters.

Setting Peace like a River
The setting for Peace like a River are in many places from his hometown. The high school and his house are just a few of the settings. The settings I think are mostly irony or tragedy. Reading about these settings help me place which mode to put that chapter in.
One of the main settings is in Reuben's house where he was born, and where the plot starts. Also, while he is there, he hears the story about Dolly, Israel, and Tommy. The high school is important because that's where the incident with Dolly happened and all the danger started. There was another place as well, the Methodist church, whose religion required certain practices. Reuben's dad ended up on the floor, unconscious. All these chapters' modes were tragic or irony.
